in 2010!

Dear
Partners,
As
this summer draws to a close
and the fall harvest time
approaches we are so thankful
for you, together we have
helped those who are anxiously
awaiting the crops this
fall. The hunger season
this year has been a
particularly tough one for the
villagers, but with your love,
prayers, and partnership we
were able to bring relief to
many. It has been a
great month, many things
accomplished for the
Lord. Time and time
again you have been so
faithful to pray for the work
here, to give of yourselves,
even when things have been
challenging for you, you
gave. Great is your
reward in Heaven. We
want to thank you for standing
with us, shoulder to shoulder
in the spirit. This
month it is not just Marla and
I saying thank you but the
families of the villages also.
Words always fail to express
what we feel in our hearts,
how do you articulate love,
gratitude, appreciation, and
so much more? Since a
picture is worth a thousand
words, then perhaps the only
way is with pictures of the
lives that you helped us
touch. Please read this

The
month the starvation season
hit very hard and so many
children were taken to the
hospital with severe
malnutrition. A
combination of last year's
severe drought, erratic
rainfall, high food prices and
a sharp drop in remittances
amid the global economic
crisis has weakened
Guatemala's fragile food
supply and left thousands of
families too destitute to buy
enough food.
So we launched
"Starvation
Annihilation" And it was
a huge success! We
raised enough money to keep
from closing our 2 centers
that we had lost funds to
maintain, and also enough to
take bulk food to the families
of 5 villages. We gave
close to ONE TON OF FOOD
away!!

Jalapa
Mountain wide Rally 2010

The Jalapa Mountain Wide Rally
2010 was the first of many
mountain wide rallies to
come! With close to 120
churches built, and more going
up each year it is difficult
to find the time to visit them
all. So we have put into
action "Mountain Wide
Rallies" that pull all of
our 100 club churches from any
given mountain together for a
day of preaching, prayer,
fellowship and
yes.....eating!
What a blessing to see the
trucks begin to arrive and all
of the precious people
entering the house of the Lord
with joy on their faces and in
their hearts! Together
we preached and prayed and
rejoiced and cried! The
presence of the Lord was so
tender and sweet as children
as well as adults worshiped
the one true and living God!
We rejoiced in victories and
mourned as we heard how one
sister had nothing to feed her
family--so she went and
gathered mushrooms to
cook. Two of her three
children died that day.
It was a time of strengthening
and encouragement, a time for
a good solid word to take them
through to the victory.
We look forward to many more
"Mountain Wide
rallies" to come!
