“....Who maketh his angels spirits and His ministers as Flames of Fire.” Hebrews 1:7 |
In this month's edition:
A note from Larry & Marla As the new year begins we all look forward to what the Lord has for us. We want you, our friends and partners in the gospel to know that we are believing that God will give you one of the best years that you've ever had!! We know that we will all share in the rewards because we are truly partners. Thank you for linking arms with us to take the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to the unreached villages of Eastern Guatemala--and now Honduras!! In less than 2 months we will be headed for the east coast of Africa--to Kenya. We will be visiting the churches that our home church has built there. Please pray for us as we prepare for this trip. Pray for our health, protection and finances and that God fill our mouths with the message that He wants spoken! We do earnestly ask for your prayers. We are still standing for some of the finances to come in. But we know that God is in control. We will be taking you with us in our hearts because you are our PARTNERS IN THE FATHER'S BUSINESS. 1 Samuel 30:24 says: ............for an equal part will be given to him who went to the fight and to him who was waiting by the goods: they are all to have the same. VBS in the Feeding Centers is a huge success! This year it was a huge privilege to teach the children at our feeding centers some special classes of Vacation Bible School. Their vacation is during the months of November and December, while in the United States it is in summer. The children were so excited. Our first class was at the feeding center near the train tracks on the outskirts of Chiquimula. We had a clown (Ana, who works with the ministry). We put on some Christian music on and the clown jumped out from behind a wall. They all jump out of there seats and came running up to her and hugged her. Our first class was about how much God love them no matter the way they live or were the come from. We sang and they completed some worksheets. We also went to Guayabo, Jute, and La Prensa. Our VBS started around Thanksgiving and ended a little before Christmas. Each week targeting a different village. The children would run to the pick-up and help get things organized. They really loved it. In some of the feeding centers we made Christmas Cards for the children's families and in one of the Feeding Centers a little girl asked if she could make a Christmas card for Missionaries Marlita and Lorenzo (Larry) because they were in the States. She wanted to say how much she was grateful for the food she was receiving. So, they made Christmas cards and so many of the children wrote "Thank You for the Food". That really touched our hearts. They all decided on their own what to write. Many put the phrase "gracias por la comida", it means thank you for the food! Feeding Centers win 2 men to the Lord with Christmas food baskets! We were able, with your help, to be able to give Christmas dinner to 5 of our 6 feeding centers. It is just too sad to have nothing to eat on Christmas! So we put together all the fixin's for tamales and traditional fruit punch--we even threw in a Latin version of fruit cake! it was wonderful. In the village of Guayabo the Lord gave the pastor a great idea, he passed out the baskets after a special service on Christmas eve and 2 of the village men accepted Christ as Lord! This year we will be planting/building 20 more churches to bring our total to 50! We are extending our borders and have entered into Honduras. Fifteen years ago we lived there for 5 years. Before we started the bible school we lived in Western Honduras that borders Guatemala. Little did we know that years later God would take the friendships and contacts that we made there and use them! We are now building churches in the unreached villages of western Honduras. This is truly where east meets west! Eastern Guatemala and Western Honduras--neighbors, both being changed by the gospel. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world! Please pray as we go into villages with the gospel that have not been reached. Sometimes there is no gospel there because they have violently rejected the message and the messenger. At the end of 2006 we build a "house" in one village--not a church. It has to technically be a house because the unbelievers in the village refused to let a Christian church be built. So we built a house for the pastor, and if he wants to invite people over to hear the word and sing a bit.....well that's his business. Please lift him and the village of Achiotes in prayer. Until next month, remember..... Together we are making a difference! Your Missionaries to Guatemala & Honduras! Larry & Marla |
