What a Couple of Months!

This month we went into so many villages with the medical team.  In the village of Las Palmas, a mother brought in her 14 month old little girl who only weighed a mere 5 lbs!  Can you believe 5lbs?   We gave her formula and will continue to try to nourish this child to health. 

 

House Calls!

The team went far up the mountain on foot on a house call for a woman that was bedridden.  There were able to help her and share the love of God with her and her family. 

 

 

 We even had clinic day at the ministry center and opened it to the village pastors, local pastors, and their families.  We were so happy that little Elisama came.  I don’t know if you remember over a year ago we sent you a prayer request for a little girl that was pinned under her father’s truck in the river bed.  She almost lost her leg but God!  Well, the doctors were able to examine her and say that she is doing quite well!

 

Children's Seminar

Now, we are getting ready for a huge children's ministry seminar for our churches and feeding centers.  Potter’s House Family Church in Michigan is coming to help the village churches and feeding centers learn how to minister to the children.  It is such a needy area of ministry and receives very little focus down here.  So please pray for the seminar on August 2, we have about 150 people registered. 

 

Death threats and killings

 

In addition to the normal daily activities of running the feeding centers and building churches……….we’ve built 12 so far this year!  Two more alone since the last time we wrote.  One of the villages that have a new church has been experiencing a lot of violence directed at the Christians.  One man was shot and his father in law was killed.  In fact, the same men threatened to kill us when we went to dedicate the church.  The Lord used a precious brother to detour them.  They told him days before, that they were going to kill us, and not only us, but that they were going to kill him right then.  He valiantly told them to just try, that he was covered by the blood of Jesus and that the Lord would not let them kill him.  Well, he was so convincing that they ran off and didn’t come after us either.  They did however kill the other believer.  Please pray for Pastor Marco Tulio Diaz and for the family of the man killed.

But on top of all of that our days have been a bit busier than usual because the seasonal rains took their toll again this year on our retainer wall.  In fact, the wall gave way yesterday to the rain and took the entire backyard with it.  We have an architectural engineer advising us on the rebuilding of the wall.  He found 2 reasons that the wall did not hold.   In one section only, there were not enough weep holes and the workers did not fill the blocks with cement as they were supposed to.   He said that the neglect of the workers was the cause not the original design of the wall.  But bottom line is no matter who’s fault it was the wall is down and needs to be rebuilt.  Please stand with us for the funds necessary to do this, it is not optional.  God is bigger than all of this and we read the back of the book…..we win!  This is a feeble attempt on the devils part to divert our attention.  But, like Nehemiah…..we won’t come down off the wall (you just gotta keep your joy).
