Greetings,
We
are kicking off our "Christmas
Like a Child Project". It
isn't even Thanksgiving, but it is
time for us to start raising the
funds necessary for the children of
the feeding centers and their
families to have food to eat on
Christmas Eve.
Our theme this year is
"Christmas Like a Child".
Oh so often I've thought how I'd
love to have Christmas
again.....LIKE A CHILD! With
all of the wonder and joy! But
that is because as a child I had a
wonderful Christmas.....not perfect
by any means but each year very
special. And many of the
childhood Christmases remain very
vivid in my mind to this day.
Marla remembers the smell of that
brand new baby doll, Larry remembers
the year he got the Rock'em Sock'em
Robots.....we are sure that you all
have memories that will last
forever.
Then we think of these precious
children in the villages, they
wouldn't have one single toy, they
wouldn't even have food to eat if we
didn't lend a helping hand.
Isn't that what Christmas is really
about, giving--God loved us so much
that HE gave His only son to be born
in a stable and live on this earth,
to die and pay the price for our
sins. We
desire to
teach the children what Christmas is
really all about, the wonder of the
Christ Child, how the star showed
the way, how the angels sang Glory
to God in the Highest! We will
be going personally to read the
nativity
story
to the children this year, and talk
to them about what GIFT they have
for Jesus!
What is your favorite childhood
Christmas memory?
Do you remember what Christmas was
like when you were a child?
Filled with wonder and fun, but--
What if.....you had nothing
at all to eat?
What if.....you didn't receive even
one toy?
What if.....you slept on
the cold dirt floor without
a blanket?
I'm
sure that your childhood memories,
even though they may vary, are not
as bleak as that. I
lovingly and prayerfully ask that
you begin considering being a part
of this Christmas Outreach of love.
Each family bag will be filled with
things that will make Christmas
special celebration for the parents
and the children. They will
receive:
