Baby Guillermo........
From
Malnutrition to Health
A
Success Story

In
June of 2003 a medical team from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee came
to do a series of medical clinics. While doing those clinics we went to the
village of Ingeniero, just outside of Chiquimula. It is a very poor village
despite the fact that it is very close to the city. a mother came with her
sick child of 7 months, he weighed only 7lbs. Basically, the birth weight
of most children--or less! His nutrition was so poor that he had no muscle
tone, had little use of his arms and legs, his hair was falling out, and his
little belly was swollen. He had severe mal-nutrition and was not far from
death.

We
began taking food to him and his mother who weighed 78lbs. We are happy to
report that they are both doing well. Baby Guillermo is up to 15lbs and the
mother up to 95lbs. He has gained use of his arms and legs and is now
crawling at the age of 1+yr. After eating well for several months, just
after he turned 1yr old he popped out 8 teeth almost all at once! His hair
is back and he actually had meat on his arms and legs! It took 9 months to
really see the desire improvement. It has been a long slow road back to
health but he is out of danger now thanks to the feeding program.
